Make clear, actionable suggestions for Proximie to improve its value proposition or market position within the context of that healthcare environment
Solution
Recommendations for Healthcare System
The Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health (MOH) is an entity funded by the government and offering healthcare services throughout the Kingdom, and concentrating especially on quality and accessibility of care, in accordance with Vision 2030’s objectives to transform Saudi Arabia’s healthcare (Chowdhury et al., 2021). The MOH is committed to promoting healthcare technology, improving the quality of healthcare service delivery, and increasing access to specialised care, most particularly in the underserved areas.
To integrate effectively into the MOH healthcare system, Proximie will need to adapt to Saudi Arabia’s unique regulatory, cultural and financial environment, and this means its business model will need to be adjusted. Proximie will have to comply with the regulations from the HIPAA rule, which protects healthcare data from unauthorised use and disclosure and National Data Management Office (NDMO) that run very strict rules on the use of any medical device and on how to use health data (Oikonomou et al., 2019). Proximie’s alignment with these standards helps the company rise to being a secure and reliable partner and makes it gain access to Saudi hospitals and trust in the healthcare system.
Proximie’s alignment with Saudi Arabia Healthcare Transformation goals represented by Vision 2030 is crucial culturally, to demonstrate its participation in helping Saudi Arabia achieve those goals. In Vision 2030 the focus was on healthcare modernization, including digitalisation and the extension of the scope of healthcare to these remote areas. To solve the problem of shortage of specialised surgeons in the rural regions, the XR platform offered by Proximie should position itself as a solution to high quality, remote surgical support and professional collaboration. Demonstrating that, even in areas with little local resources, it is possible to standardise care and elevate surgical expertise using Proximie’s platform would be through launching pilot programs in its underserved MOH hospitals (Alasiri & Mohammed, 2022). Proximie can also grow in cultural acceptance by emphasising how its technology aligns with Vision 2030, and thereby aligns with the public health system in Saudi Arabia.
In addition, given that the MOH is funded by the government and is often driven by the need to find cost effective solutions, Proximie should offer financially viable subscription options, or explore the value pricing model, where charges are linked to patient outcome and operational efficiency improvement measures. Proximie could also secure public sector funding from collaborative engagement with the Saudi healthcare bodies like Saudi Health Council to receive endorsements and funding through the public sector for Proximie’s presence in Saudi healthcare ecosystem (Al-Hanawi et al., 2020).
