Description
Question 3- Leadership Style in SB good at moment or not
In the case study, the identified leadership style is autocratic particularly in the top hierarchy of the organisation. This is a style where the leaders expect their employees to work in accordance to their expectations and set regulations. This is by the leadership being committed to systems and procedures they have been operating under over the years.
The leadership style is not good for SB at the moment. In Chapter 4 notes, using a leadership continuum model, an autocratic leader was identified to demonstrate bossy tendencies. This is where they assume what they are doing is right and they should not be questioned. At the moment, SB expects to bring a turnaround to their deteriorating performance in their business environment. This is by ensuring that there are good relations in their entire hierarchy with all their customers, senior management teams, employees, competitors and all stakeholders. This is by having a mutually agreed strategy, common reasoning and mutual goals which mitigate any form of confusion in clients level. Also, an autocratic culture does not fit appropriately with their significantly hierarchical structure. In Chapter 7 Notes, identifying need for organisations to operate transformational leadership styles and model, the best practice is identified to manage costs by harnessing prompt and effective decision making. The current autocratic leadership style in SB is defined with bureaucratic tendencies limiting effectiveness of communication and engagement with the scope of empowerment of the employees and engagement reduced. The consultations would offer an opportunity for the organisation advancing their operations by investing in technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain technologies and analytics.
