Universalism
This is defined as an ethical theory holding the view of existence of specific moral principles used universally by all irrespective of cultural orientation, contextual factors or individual situations (Scott & Rief, 2021). According to Chibber (2023), the use of the model capture need for pursuing human rights, being principled and assertion of practices needed to be pursued in line with legislations relevant in the entire spectrum. For example, this ethical theory identifies belie principle to be an issue of ethics as it is inappropriate lying-in specific phenomenon. The universalism concept is aligned with deontological functions informed by being right or wrong in specific practices. The application of universalism has a significant implication on embracing morality in making decision. According to Cappelen et al. (2022), it offers consistency in evaluation of actions being made. The relevance of this model is being persuasive to individuals and organisations acting as an agency for international societies for embracing and practicing principle of moral righteousness in various areas. Application of this model in my organisation Riyad Bank, it can guide people practice professionals in fair resourcing process and use of a standardised criterion lowering discrimination level. A challenge/limitation of universalism is being mechanistic in nature. This means failing to incorporate culture and situations difference hence being general in terms of outcomes. Altruism This represent a belief system prioritising n other people interest and sacrificing for the gain of the rest even when there is a harm linked to decision. According to Kustov (2021), the basic assumption of the theory is that moral-based practices enhance other people wellbeing and hence fostering spirit of being responsible. Altruism is associated with consequentialist ethics which is a form of ethic where consequences to others are core and prioritised (Vlerick, 2021). In process of moral decision making, embrace of knowledge of altruism enhance people and organisation prioritise societal needs and be fair. According to Wolfe (2021), appreciation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in a society, Riyad Bank organisation can for example initiate policies evidencing how committed they are to values prioritising clients’ interests and not profits. For drawbacks, altruism is not elaborate in terms of avoiding getting harmed in process of helping others. Also, immense resources are committed to help the rest. The individual concerns and organisations are not holistically avoided specifically in an event decision making is informed by appropriate intent.
