Solution
Values-based recruitment is the process of ensuring that employees are hired based on the values and beliefs of the organisation to ensure that the employees are in a position to support the culture of the organisation (Watson et al., 2022). This approach entails evaluating if the candidate is the right fit for the culture of the organisation and if they are capable of embracing the vision and mission of the company in the future.
Purpose of Values-Based Recruitment
The primary purpose of values-based recruitment is to ensure that the employees not only possess the necessary skills for the position but also possess values that are consistent with the company’s ethical values and principles (Allal-Chérif et al., 2021). Thus, companies aim at creating teams that adhere to the organisation’s values and goals in order to ensure employees’ loyalty and effectiveness. Workers with values that align with the company are more likely to work with more enthusiasm, contribute more to their workplace, and remain loyal to the company and its mission. Also, VBR seeks to develop a long-term relationship between the workers and the organisation by employing individuals who are not only qualified for the job but also those who possess the right values. This kind of alignment support organisational continuity, increases collaboration and hence increases group achievements. Furthermore, when personal values of the employees match the values of the organisation, employees are likely to feel that they belong and are relevant in the organisation, thus increasing job satisfaction and decreasing turnover rates (Harver, 2021). Values-based recruitment thus assists organisations to hire employees who are not only competent but also have the desire and ability to enhance the performance and ethical standards of the organisation.
Advantages of Value-Based Recruitment
Cultural Fit: Using values-based recruitment, the organisation can select candidates who will fit in the company’s culture which in turn means that the employee is likely to fit in the team. This cultural fit enables the organisation to have a harmonious working culture where all the employees are focused on achieving the organisations objectives thus promoting collaboration (Hrlineup, 2022).
