3.1 Evolving Role of People Practice and Implications for CPD
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is a structured approach to learning that enables professionals to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their careers. Best practices in CPD include setting clear goals, regularly reflecting on progress, and collecting feedback to inform future development. As the role of people practitioners evolves, CPD becomes even more critical to staying current and effective. The people practice role has shifted from administrative functions to strategic contributions, requiring practitioners to be more people-focused and tech-savvy (CIPD, 2022). For instance, the increasing integration of AI in recruitment and learning and development (L&D) demands that people professionals acquire new technological skills to remain relevant.
In response to these changes, I have set a CPD goal to enhance my understanding and application of AI in people practice, particularly in recruitment and L&D. This objective will involve completing relevant courses, attending webinars, and experimenting with AI tools. Staying updated on these developments will enable me to contribute strategically to my organization and ensure that my skills remain aligned with the evolving demands of the profession.
