Changing Role of the People Professional
In recent years, the role of the people professional has undergone significant changes, largely influenced by the post-pandemic world, the rise of emerging technologies, and the growing adoption of remote working practices as evidenced by Battisti et al, (2022). COVID-19 accelerated the shift toward flexible working arrangements, requiring HR professionals to manage remote teams, foster virtual collaboration, and implement digital onboarding and training processes. Furthermore, technologies like AI and data analytics have become crucial for managing talent acquisition, employee engagement, and performance tracking, transforming HR into a more strategic, data-driven function. Diversity and inclusion have also taken center stage, requiring people professionals to navigate complex cultural and regulatory landscapes.
Updating My CPD
To stay updated with these changes, I plan to focus on two key areas of CPD.
- First, I will enhance my digital proficiency by pursuing courses in AI and HR analytics. Understanding how to leverage these tools will allow me to make data-driven decisions and improve workforce planning and development strategies.
- Second, I aim to develop my leadership and change management skills by attending workshops that focus on managing hybrid teams. These workshops will help me foster better collaboration, maintain employee engagement, and drive organisational change in a rapidly evolving work environment.

- Enhance an improvement and robust system and policy development to manage any potential gap in PS&M transformation
- Today, lower than 10% of ADNOC PS&M would be aligned to implementation of 3D printing and other modernisation strategies appropriate for the organisation
- Ensure development of new systems and policies which are appropriate for enhancing the current and future implementation of 3D printing and more modernised systems as a progress of their modernisation
- There is a necessity for successfully adopting 3D printing starting with their spare parts sourcing
- By collaborating with UAE government which owns 70% of the ADNOC shares, more revenues would be provided for the organisation successful operations.
- ADNOC engaging all the stakeholders holistically by understanding their interests and expectations
- There is a need to collaborate with government in UAE and other regulators for the sake of improving the suppliers relations
- By collaborating with institutions, they would successfully offer employees learning opportunities
